Frequently staffed positions in the "Plant Operator" category include:
Heavy Equipment Operator
Operates heavy mobile equipment such as motor graders, excavators, bulldozers, scrapers, backhoes, loaders, and a variety of other material, moving equipment including off-road haul trucks.
- Provide continuous grading, feeding and transport of material by operation of heavy equipment or haul truck.
- Daily cleanup of equipment and surrounding areas.
- Performs daily inspections of heavy mobile equipment to ensure proper functioning of all devices.
- Ensures that the plant is properly supplied with all material needed to operate.
- Performs routine servicing and cleaning of equipment and machinery.
To qualify, the candidate's work history must demonstrate the ability to work with a team, take direction from supervisors, keep required work schedules, and focus on attention on details. Heavy equipment experience preferred. Must be able to work rotational shifts (days/nights/weekends/holidays) and scheduled overtime when needed.
Outside Plant Operator
The outside operator performs the startup, operation, and cleanup of plant machinery to ensure proper functioning of all devices. This position requires frequent communication with the control room operator pertaining to status of conveyor belts, motors, blenders, washer, crushers, dryers, and other plant equipment.
- Monitors equipment (temperature, pressures, etc.)
- Performs daily inspections of the plant machinery to ensure proper functioning of all devices.
- Ensures that the plant is properly supplied with material needed to operate.
- Performs routine servicing and cleaning of equipment and machinery.
- Assist maintenance or other department as required.
- Lubricate moving parts and perform basic trouble shooting.
- Complete duty rosters, pre-shift inspections, and work orders.
- Occasionally required to operate heavy mobile equipment.
- Maintain good communication with management and customer service at all times.
